Help Latarsha Murphy Fight for Her Life After Federal Job Loss

On February 25, 2021, Latarsha Murphy received life-altering news: she was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, a rare and incurable blood cancer. The road ahead was daunting, but Latarsha faced it with strength, determination, and faith.

Exactly two years later, on February 25, 2023, she achieved a milestone she had worked tirelessly for—she fulfilled her dream of becoming a federal employee with the Department of Energy (DOE) as a Personnel Security Specialist. Despite battling a terminal illness, she dedicated herself to her work and our country, proving her resilience and commitment every single day.

But now, she is facing an unimaginable setback - one that threatens not just her career, but her life-saving medical treatments.

An Undeserved Termination Just 12 Days Before Completing Probation

Latarsha was hired under the federal Schedule A, a program designed to support employees with disabilities. As part of this, she was placed on a two-year probationary period, which she was set to complete on February 25, 2025.

Throughout her tenure, Latarsha's work exceeded expectations, earning high performance ratings and the respect of her colleagues and superiors. Even as she underwent chemotherapy every Saturday, leaving her too sick to function on Mondays, she still worked nine-hour days from home, reviewing and processing critical personnel security cases so the work of DOE could continue.

But on February 13, 2025 - just 12 days before she would have completed her probation and secured her permanent status - Latarsha was informed her employment was terminated without cause and for no reason other than she was on probation.

This devastating decision has left her without a job, without health insurance, and without the means to continue the weekly chemotherapy treatments she needs to survive.

Latarsha’s Fight Is Not Over - She Needs Us Now!

Beyond her professional excellence, Latarsha has always been a fighter and a giver. She doesn’t just battle cancer for herself—she spends her time volunteering at a women’s shelter in Washington, D.C., giving back to those in need despite her own struggles. Now, she needs that same kindness and support from us!

How You Can Help?

Latarsha is fighting for her life, and every contribution will help her continue receiving the treatments that are keeping her alive. Your donations will go toward:

Latarsha’s story is one of strength, perseverance, and injustice. She has spent years proving that cancer would not define her or stop her from achieving her dreams. Now, she needs our help to ensure this unjustified job loss does not take away her chance at survival.

Please donate, share, and support in any way you can. Every bit of help makes a difference.

Together, we can give Latarsha the chance to keep fighting, keep thriving, and keep inspiring us all!
