Help Me Keep Kira Fighting
Hello, my name is Pia — though most people know me simply as Kira’s mom. If you know Kira, you know she’s more than just a dog. She’s my best friend, my shadow, my heartbeat — my soulmate in fur.
In 2023, Kira was diagnosed with metastatic splenic leiomyosarcoma, a rare and aggressive cancer. At the time, I was told she might not make it to her 6th birthday. I was devastated. But here we are — nearly two years later — and she’s still with me, defying the odds every single day. In June, she made her 7th trip around the sun! I can hardly believe it.
Thanks to the incredible oncology team at Fetch Specialty Clinic, Kira has been able to live a happy and relatively healthy life. She still loves her walks, her toys, and curling up next to me like nothing’s changed. But behind the scenes, there are constant vet visits, tests, treatments, and chemo sessions that keep her going.
These checkups happen every six weeks and can cost anywhere from $600 to $2,000, depending on her needs. For almost two years, I’ve managed to shoulder this burden alone — out of love, out of pride, and because I couldn’t imagine asking for help. But now... I need to.
Times have gotten harder, and while my love for Kira hasn’t changed, my ability to manage the financial load has. I’m swallowing my pride and reaching out because I can’t do this alone anymore.
Kira has fought so hard to be here. And I want to give her every chance to keep fighting, comfortably and joyfully, for as long as she wants to.
If you’re able to contribute — even a little — it would mean the world to both of us. Every dollar goes directly to her medical care. And if you can’t donate, sharing this with others is just as appreciated.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story. Thank you for caring. And thank you for helping me give Kira the life she deserves.
With love and hope,
Pia (Kira’s mom)
