Help Kimo Silva With Cancer Care and Everyday Expenses
My name is Evan Sanders, and I’m organizing this fundraiser for my friend Kimo Silva. When Kimo shared how overwhelmed he felt by the financial burden of cancer care and everyday expenses, we talked about ways to help. He was hesitant to put his needs out there, but at his brother’s suggestion and with Kimo’s agreement, we decided to create this fundraiser. Having organized one before, I’m helping with the organization and making sure the donations reach him.
In April, Kimo was diagnosed with testicular cancer and underwent surgery. A follow-up scan showed that the cancer had spread to his lymph nodes. He is receiving further treatment, and we’re respecting his wish to keep some medical details private.
Through all of this, Kimo is still working, caring for his mother, and trying to keep up with everyday bills. He has already borrowed against his home to pay for treatment. He is also carrying credit card balances and other outstanding expenses.
Thanks to everyone who has contributed, we have surpassed our first milestone of $35,000 and raised nearly $52,000. This support has already helped Kimo cover bills and relieved a great deal of his financial stress. He is deeply grateful for the way this community has come together for him.
Our next fundraising milestone is $150,000 in total, building on what has already been raised. This next phase will continue helping Kimo with his care, outstanding bills, and everyday needs.
Donations will help Kimo pay for:
-Care he has already received: Existing medical bills and repayment of money borrowed to cover treatment, including money borrowed against his home.
-Additional care: Ongoing treatment and further care-related expenses as his next steps are determined.
- Outstanding financial obligations: Credit card balances and other unpaid bills.
- Essential household expenses: Everyday living costs while he manages his health and continues caring for his mother.
My role is to help organize the fundraiser and transfer the donations to Kimo. The fundraiser proceeds are deposited into my nonprofit’s bank account. As soon as those funds clear, I transfer the full amount received directly to Kimo Silva’s bank account so he can pay the expenses described above. Neither I nor my nonprofit keeps any portion of the funds we receive.
Every contribution helps ease the financial pressure Kimo is carrying. If you’ve already donated, thank you. You can continue helping by sharing this fundraiser with friends, family, colleagues, and your wider community.
Thank you for helping Kimo care for himself and his family, and for showing him that he doesn’t have to face this alone.
