**important note at bottom of this**
Kenneth “Babu” Hammons has always been a man of skilled purpose and steadfast faith. For decades, he has built a life anchored in service — to his home, church, community, and beyond — guided by the compassion of Christ. Those who know him best describe him as one of the kindest souls this side of heaven.
On the morning of October 9, 2025, while on his daily walk, tragedy struck.
Babu — who has faithfully walked four to six miles, six days a week, for over twelve years — was hit from behind by a van that crossed three lanes of traffic, a grassy median, and onto the sidewalk where he was walking.
He went into cardiac arrest at the scene and was resuscitated, but the accident left him with a traumatic brain injury, multiple spinal and neck fractures, and ongoing pneumonia and infections from his long stay in intensive care.
Despite overwhelming odds, Babu continues to fight — each day a small miracle, each moment a testament to his strength and to God’s grace. His recovery journey has been filled with uncertainty, but his spirit remains unbroken.
To add to this hardship, the driver — with a prior history of civil and criminal offenses — carried only minimal insurance and received nothing more than a civil citation. Our family has faced unimaginable emotional and financial challenges as we navigate Ken’s complex care and the legal process ahead.
Still, even through the heartbreak, we see God’s hand in every detail: the nurse who recognized him in the ER as her church deacon, the doctors who stepped in with courage, and the community who has surrounded us in love and prayer.
Ken’s road to recovery will be long and demanding — physically, emotionally, and financially. If you are able to give, please know that every contribution will help provide for his ongoing medical care, rehabilitation, and long-term support.
If you cannot give, your continued prayers, encouragement, and faith are equally powerful gifts.
To know Ken is to love Ken — a man of quiet strength, deep kindness, and unwavering faith. He has always been the one to lift others in prayer and encouragement, a man truly after God’s own heart. Babu has spent his life pouring into others.
Now, as he traverses the hardest path of his life, we humbly ask you to walk beside him.
With gratitude and faith,
The Hammons Family
