If you have not been following my daughter Kelly through her breast cancer battle her is a little bit about her story. Her first surgery was to place a port in her chest for chemotherapy infusions. She completed 20 weeks of chemotherapy. She lost all of her hair and the chemo caused the nails on both of her big toes to grow up off of the toe making wearing shoes very painful and impossible. About half way through the chemo her husband of 16 years told her he no longer loved her and wanted to separate. A week after that she found out he had already told his family that he was divorcing Kelly. After Kelly finished chemo, she had to have tracers placed in two of the tumors. Kelly had a lumpectomy and three lymph nodes removed during surgery and two had cancer so five more were removed, four of the eight had cancer. A drain was put in during the surgery and she had it for 23 days and she had lot of problems with the drain. After it was determined she was finished with chemo, she had surgery to remove the port. She did 25 rounds of regular radiation and 5 boosts and suffered severe burns from the radiation. At this time she is considered living with cancer and gets shots once a month, takes rounds of chemo pills and takes a daily pill. Due to the extensive medical bills (copays, non-covered cancer related procedures and treatments) and lawyer bills from the divorce, Kelly is struggling financially. Despite all she has been through, Kelly has worked very hard to stay positive, be a good mom, and continued to work as a teacher as much as she could. Kelly is not shy about sharing her story and letting others know how important it is to get a mammogram every single year. Kelly will be the first to tell you that no one fights alone and God, her family, friends, and work family have given her the love and strength to keep her going. While Kelly’s fight is not over, she is doing better and better every day however she still faces the financial stress of these past several months every day. If you are able to help Kelly out financially, any amount will help and be greatly appreciated. Thank you! Please share my daughters story to help others as well! Thank you!
