Stand with Katie Standley Against Cancer

Hello everyone,

My name is Jane McDonald Dudik, and I am organizing this fundraiser for Katie Standley, a dedicated mother of three young children all under the age of four. Originally from Philadelphia, I had the pleasure of meeting Katie last year at my daughter’s preschool, Truro Preschool and Kindergarten in Fairfax, VA and got to her know her more as she also attended St. Leo the Great Catholic Church. This February, Katie gave birth to her first daughter.

Katie is a true fighter. After her oldest son was born 4 years ago, she was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect and had to undergo major open-heart surgery at the onset of the pandemic, enduring her recovery alone. She was so thankful following her recovery and made sure to enjoy all her time with her children and husband and other family and friends, not taking a moment for granted.

Fast forward to spring 2024, Katie and her husband now have three little ones and recently relocated to North Carolina for his job. Although I was sad to see her leave before the school year ended, I was excited for her family's new chapter.

Tragically, I received news last week that the postpartum issues Katie was experiencing turned out to be Stage 4 colon cancer. Now, in a new city with a preschooler, a toddler, and an infant, Katie faces a daunting challenge. I am raising funds to help Katie and her husband with any expenses they may have, whether it’s for food, a house cleaner, or other necessities.

Please be generous, even if you have never met her. Katie is an amazing mother, sister, wife, and friend—a true blessing to everyone around her. Let’s come together to support her in this difficult time.
