Stand with Katie in Her Recovery Journey

Donation protected
Meet Katie Innis, my baby sister: a resilient and strong-willed gal who has faced an unexpected and challenging setback. On April 30, at the young age of 51, she had her hip replaced, after living with severe osteoarthritis for years. Thinking she would have enough time to heal, her boss gave her 4 weeks off work so she could recuperate. Unfortunately, an infection developed at the surgical site, and her doctor said she needed another surgery immediately. It was a very serious issue, and had she not gone to the doctor, she may have ended up in a wheelchair, or even worse. The surgery was performed, during which the infection was removed, along with her new hip joint. Yes, she had to have her replacement replaced! At this point, she had to stay in the hospital for 7 days so they could monitor the situation and make sure another infection wouldn’t start.
With the surgery behind her, she was optimistic that she would get better and go back to work. The day after her operation, and through no fault of her now former boss, she found out that she no longer had a job. The sale of the business had been in the works for a long time. The new corporate owners decided she was going to need more time to recuperate and they couldn't wait for her. She was devastated. Now what?
Katie left the hospital to recover, having family and friends, and kitty cats there to welcome her home. Sadly, the day she got home, one of the cats was sick. Our brother, Paul, took Felix to the vet, but the news was not good. Felix had advanced cancer, so it was advised that he shouldn’t suffer any longer. Not only was she in pain from surgery, but now her heart was breaking in a way only pet owners can imagine.
The bills from the first surgery are coming in ($3,000 so far) and there will be more with the second. Without a job, her bills will become an overwhelming burden, and it has taken an emotional toll on her worrying about it.
I’m asking you to help my little sis at a very distressing time in her life. Any contributions for her medical bills and living expenses would be deeply felt and greatly appreciated. Thank you!
