Stand with Karisma: A Mom's Battle with Myopathy
Donation protected
Dear Friends, Family, and Community,
My name is Raven, and I am reaching out to ask for your support for my cousin Karisma, a devoted single mother of two young children, who is facing an incredibly challenging time. Many of you know Karisma as a talented athlete who played women’s basketball at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) and professionally in Iceland and Israel. She is a dedicated mentor, coach, and friend, but her favorite role of all is being a mother to Khalil and Kaycee.
Recently, Karisma was diagnosed with Necrotizing Autoimmune Myopathy, a rare but serious muscle disease, that has turned her world upside down. To make matters worse, she has no remaining sick leave at work, and her condition requires ongoing treatment, rest, and time to heal. As the sole provider for her children, this has left her in a devastating situation.
While Karisma is fighting hard to recover, the financial strain is becoming unbearable. Everyday expenses like rent, utilities, groceries, childcare, and medical bills are piling up. Without a steady income, she is at risk of falling behind on the essentials her family depends on.
We are asking for your kindness and generosity to help ease this burden during such a difficult time. Your contributions will go directly toward:
• Covering basic living expenses to keep a roof over their heads and food on the table.
• Paying for medical bills and treatments not covered by insurance.
• Providing essential care and support for her children while she focuses on recovery.
This is a loving, hardworking mom who has always put her children first. She’s the type of person who would never ask for help unless she truly needed it—and now she does.
Any amount, no matter how small, will make a huge difference. If you’re unable to contribute, sharing this campaign would mean the world to us.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support, compassion, and prayers during this time. Together, we can help Karisma and her kids weather this storm and get back on their feet.
With all of my gratitude,
