Stand with Julissa: Fund Her Permit and Legal Aid
Donation protected
My mom and I were on our usual walking route in Beverlywood. We saw a fruit vendor while walking back, and noticed she was selling cherries, so we stopped by. We learned her name was Julissa.
At the same moment, a police car pulled up and my mom and I figured we’d stick around to help navigate the conversation. Julissa, shared that she thought they were there to ticket her, but in reality, she had just been assaulted by a woman moments before.
Minutes before arriving, a woman pulled over to harass Julissa for selling fruits on the corner she was located on. Julissa explained that after the harassment, she took a picture of her license plate. Through tears she shared that the woman, angry that Julissa had taken a photo of her license plate, struck her in the chest. Thankfully a bystander helped Julissa and helped drive the attacker away.
We navigated the conversation with officers to share what happened and while we filed a report, I’m worried the woman will return again and/or no action will be taken against the woman that attacked Julissa.
I’m reaching out today to ask for help, both to support Julissa in covering the cost of a permit and to connect her with any legal guidance or resources that can help her navigate the aftermath of the assault.
After the tears and the report, we decided we’d take a picture and I offered to help fundraise for her business and for future potential legal support. Pleaseeeee share if you can’t donate, I know times are difficult. I’ll keep everyone updated!
