Mom’s Cancer Journey
Our loving mother, Julie, was first diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer in Nov. 2024. This was when everything changed for our family. She started chemo right away, hoping for a miracle, or at the very least to slow the cancer progression. Each treatment left her weaker, but she kept fighting with so much strength.
Unfortunately, June 14 was Julie’s last chemo treatment. Her cancer is too aggressive, and her body can no longer handle the treatments. Ultimately, she had to retire, losing all of her medical benefits, life insurance, and income. Moving forward, finances are going to be difficult, especially future medical/prescription costs (even with the help of Medicare). It’s scary thinking about what comes next.
Even with all that is going on, she keeps her faith, hope, and her smile. Every day is a gift with her. We don’t know how much time we have, but we are holding on to each moment, loving her deeply, and trying to help her feel as supported as possible.
