Stand with Juan: Stop Deportation
Donation protected
I am in love with an immigrant. A hardworking, passionate, gregarious immigrant, but an immigrant nonetheless. Juan first visited this country back in 2012 after graduating from college in Brazil. He fell in love with this country and years later came back and began working odd jobs while he started the process to become an American citizen.
Though Juan initiated the process to become a citizen, due to recent changes in policies, he worried that he would be deported before he could finish the process. When we first met, it was literally love at first sight. I remember the day that I met him and telling a friend that I was going to marry that guy. The courtship didn't last long before he said yes, and the rest is history.
In his native Brazil, Juan had studied veterinary medicine but ultimately became a professor and taught Geography. After he came to this country, he did odd jobs such as construction and migrant farm work to make ends meet. He would work in different states and enjoyed getting to know the country. While on a recent job, he and some colleagues left work and were visiting canyons in Arizona. Even though Juan had proper identification, he was detained by ICE. Juan is in an ICE detention center in Arizona facing deportation even though he was in the process of getting his green card.
Because Juan is an immigrant, the government does not have to provide representation, so he is left to having to hire an attorney. I am working on finding him an immigration lawyer that can represent him during the hearings. Please help in any way you can to grant him the wish he has fought so hard to attain.
