My Story

A year and a half ago, my life changed forever. I was shot five times and left paralyzed. I lost everything — my independence, my stability, and most painfully, many of the people I thought I could count on. Since then, the road has been incredibly hard. I’ve struggled with homelessness, isolation, and the weight of starting over from zero.

But despite everything, I refuse to give up. I’ve decided to go back to college — this will be my second time starting, and this time it’s not just about classes, it’s about doing something meaningful for myself. Education is my way forward, my chance to build a better life even while facing the challenges of paralysis.

Still, I can’t do this alone. I need help. I need support from friends and family. I need stability — a safe place to live, resources to keep me in school, and encouragement to keep pushing. I may have lost so much when I was shot, but I’m determined not to lose my future.

I’m asking for help, not out of weakness, but because I believe I can still rise. I want to show that even when life knocks you down, you can get back up in your own way. I’m ready to put in the work — I just need a hand to hold as I climb.

Personal / Raw Version (from the heart):

My name is Jorge, and my life completely changed a year and a half ago when I was shot five times. That day left me paralyzed and everything I had built came crashing down. I lost my home, I lost my stability, and I lost the people I thought would be there for me.

Since then, it’s been the hardest fight of my life. Some days it feels like the world moved on without me. But I’m still here. I don’t want to give up. I’m starting college again — my second time trying — because I want to do something for myself. I want to prove that I still have purpose, that I can still rise even after everything.

But the truth is, I can’t do this alone. I need help — with housing, with school, and with the support of friends and family. I’ve been knocked down, but I don’t want to stay down. If you can stand with me, even in small ways, it means everything.

Professional / College/Scholarship Version:

A year and a half ago, I was shot five times and left paralyzed. This life-altering event cost me my independence, my home, and much of the support system I once had. It has been a long and difficult journey, but it has also shown me that resilience is not about never falling — it’s about choosing to rise again.

Today, I am beginning college for the second time, with the goal of building a better future for myself. Despite the challenges I face daily, I am determined to use education as my way forward. Going to college is not just about academics — it is about reclaiming my life and proving to myself that I still have value, purpose, and strength.

I am reaching out for support because I cannot do this alone. I am in need of stable housing, resources to stay in school, and the encouragement of a community. I may have lost nearly everything when I was shot, but I refuse to lose my future. Education is my path to rebuilding, and with support, I know I can succeed.

Title: Help Jorge Rebuild After Tragedy

Story:
Hi, my name is Jorge. A year and a half ago, my life was turned upside down when I was shot five times. I survived, but I was left paralyzed. Since then, I’ve lost almost everything — my independence, my home, my stability, and many of the people I thought I could count on.

Every day has been a struggle, but I refuse to give up. I’ve decided to go back to college — my second time starting over — because I want to do something meaningful for myself. Education is my way forward, my chance to rebuild a future despite all the obstacles I face.

But the truth is, I can’t do this alone. I need help with housing, basic needs, and resources to stay in school. I’m asking for support from friends, family, and anyone willing to give me a chance to rise again.

Anything you can contribute — whether it’s financial help, sharing my story, or simply words of encouragement — means the world to me. I may have lost a lot when I was shot, but with your support, I refuse to lose my future.

Thank you for believing in me.

Title: Help Jorge Rebuild After Being Paralyzed

Story:
Hi, my name is Jorge. A year and a half ago, my life changed forever. I was shot five times and survived, but I was left paralyzed. Since then, I have lost almost everything — my independence, my home, and the support I once had.

Even though the road has been painful and full of setbacks, I refuse to give up. I’ve decided to go back to college for the second time because I want to do something for myself — to rebuild my future and create stability despite the challenges I face every single day.

Right now, I need help. I’m asking for support with housing, school, and basic needs so I can focus on moving forward. Every donation, no matter the size, brings me closer to standing tall in my own way again.

If you can’t donate, please consider sharing my story. Your support — whether financial, emotional, or simply spreading the word — means the world to me.
