In September 2026, our world changed forever.

At just 19 years old, Joanna has been diagnosed with a rare and aggressive brain tumor called Diffuse Midline Glioma (DMG), a diagnosis no young person or family should ever have to face. When Joanna started feeling some concerning symptoms, her family took her to be evaluated. She then underwent extensive testing and a biopsy at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), where doctors confirmed the devastating news.

For those who know Joanna, they know she is much more than a diagnosis.

Joanna has been a beloved member of the Lulu's Casita family for several years, where she has brought joy, laughter, and magical memories to countless children as a birthday party host. She has a special gift for making every little girl feel celebrated, confident, and loved on their special day. We are hoping to return this same love and warmth to her through a community that loves her deeply. We are inviting all of you to join this community.

A little more about Joanna:

Joanna is the only daughter of Luis and Jenny, and she has made them proud every single day. She recently graduated from high school and had just begun an exciting new chapter of her life as a college student. Like many young adults, she had dreams, plans, and countless milestones ahead of her. She has now had to withdraw from classes and alter her vision for her life.

She also carries a deep love and pride for her homeland, Paraguay, and her family that lives there remains close to her heart. One of Joanna's greatest hopes is to be able to see her beloved great-grandmother one more time this November, a wish we want to make possible for her and her family. That dream now serves as one of the many motivators that will fuel her strength and determination throughout this fight.

As Joanna begins treatment, her family is facing not only the emotional weight of this diagnosis but also the significant financial burden that comes with highly specialized medical care. Expenses related to treatment, travel, medications, consultations with specialists, potential clinical trials, lost work time, and daily living costs are growing quickly. Jenny and Luis need to be with their daughter throughout this fight to give her support and love each step of the way. They deserve to be able to spend time with her and enjoy life with her to the best of their abilities during this time.
