As you all know, this past April our beloved and feisty work colleague and friend had a devastating accident. It was nothing dramatic … just getting out of bed in an unfamiliar surrounding and she tripped and fell. But her life forever changed as she fractured her neck leaving her with quadriplegia.

In an instant the life she loved with her friends and family was turned upside down.

Joanie, known for her spirited energy, quick wit and endless activity, exercised daily and walked miles with ease … today, she moves through the world navigating her wheelchair with a hand operated switch and needs help with even the simplest daily tasks.

She now faces a long, hard and uncertain road — one that will require relentless work and resources to give her the best shot at recovery.

Her therapists already see hopeful signs — “things are waking up” — but the most promising therapies aren’t fully covered by insurance.

To keep making progress, Joanie needs ongoing, privately funded outpatient therapy, specialized equipment, and support for home modifications.

This is going to be a marathon, not a sprint — and she can’t do it alone. She needs both our thoughts, prayers, good wishes and our financial help.
