- Hello friends and family of Jimmy Prince! It’s Aunt Jenny (Keith’s sister) praying for help.
THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!! Our prayers have been answered we are home Jimmys still weak he’s got a lot a blood to produce yet but it will come takes a few months to get back to normal. His liver is in great shape biopsy showed a little dot of scaring normal for even a healthy non transplant person to have. He has what they call NRH, hard to explain but when this episode happened 3.5 years ago when his portal vein clotted off and collapsed (undiagnosed for months) caused varicies (varicose veins only on the inside) then those make there way around and out as they please. Which cause the bleeding. They typically start in the esophagus they contract pushing active blood through this time unseen found later a varicie in the small bowel that ruptured Dr.s went straight through the spleen yes he was awake and was extremely painful and glued that one. Long story shorter he’s doing great he’s home with his girls and dog the best therapy possible! He’s on a weight restriction for 3 months will have endoscopy’s every 8 weeks for awhile definitely not with any Dr local that’s for sure!!!!! WE CANNOT THANK YOU ALL ENOUGH FOR THE PRAYERS AND WELL WISHES AND MONETARY HELP one for me to be able to stay with him for 3 weeks and to help towards his medical bills. Thank you all!! Mom
Todays Newest update his hemoglobin is up and down Dr.s are going to do a trans jugular biopsy tomorrow yep it’s just that they assure us it’s actually the safest way to biopsy the liver one and two as they enter the jugular they are checking every vessel all the way down to and through the liver and re looking at the portal vein. Praying they can see/find the bleeding issue. I’ll update after I find anything out. Prayers for his bravery as you do not get put under for this procedure at least not completely.
UPDATE 2!!!!! From a very scared Mom!!
Today’s Dr visits update::: his hemoglobin is an 8.2 dropped from a 9 overnight not good at all!!!!! Going to keep monitoring him thru the weekend but if his hemoglobin gets to 7.5 he will need blood transfusions that’s when it gets scarier than right now. Means he will get more lethargic not able to carry on a conversation and so much more. It is killing me as a mom. If he can hold out til Monday they will do another Endo and go ahead and band off all the little varicies. A nuclear/tag red blood cell scan. A ct angiogram with dye. A capsule swallow is last thing only if necessary. So we will be here I’m sure through the first part of next week. I’m crying for my boy!
UPDATE:
Jimmy will be in the hospital at least another 4 days, leaving Debbie living in a hotel. They have poked and prodited him trying to find the source of the bleeding. He has had CT scan, endoscopes, colonoscopies. Although he does have minimal bleeding in esophagus, doctors don’t believe it’s the main cause! They do have 24 more feet of intestines to check.
Thank you to those that have donated. It’s taking everything Debbie has to hold it together with family there to support her!
This is the only way I know to help ease their stress by not worrying about the money to continue her stay. Any little bit helps.
Many of you may know, but Jimmy is back in Pittsburgh hospital. I am trying to help Debbie to continue staying in Pittsburgh and support Jimmy through this latest medical hurdle. We know no matter how old our children are they need our support.
Many know for the last 7 months Jimmy has been bleeding and local doctors had no answers. His Transplant Team wanted him back due to his hemoglobin numbers dropping dangerously low again.
On the way to Pittsburgh he began bleeding and was admitted directly into the hospital per the transplant teams request.
So far below is the latest update received:
varicies again (esophageal varicies) they didn't band them off yet they need to dig deeper into the portal vein tomorrow to see how that looks. The esophageal varicies can't be banded off yet because it can push more blood which they don't want because it can push harder causing more damage (if the portal vein is being obstructed in some way) Debbie is very upset as in 7 months today he's had 3 endoscopy's and local drs didn't see this third times a charm. The varicies will be fixed before he leaves though. That's what we got so far and we will be here for another day definitely and my guess right now through the weekend just a hunch from this happening exactly 4 years ago. Please pray it's not anything to do with his portal vein!!!!! PLEASE
Jimmy has had several iron infusions at home that hadn’t helped! He is very low 9.2 but still safe until a 7.5 for blood transfusions, we hope and pray this isn’t a full on relay of 4 years ago when he had 26.5 bags of blood.
So please if you’re able to donate anything to help it would be very much appreciated. Being so far from his two girls and family is stressing them both out more.
Please pray and share this with all their friends.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts
