Help Jez fight stage 4 Ocular Melanoma Cancer

Donation protected
Earlier this year, what should have been a routine eye test at Specsavers changed Jez’s life forever. The test identified a tiny speck in Jez’s eye, which was later diagnosed as Uveal (Ocular) Melanoma — an extremely rare and aggressive form of cancer affecting around 1 in a million people.

After undergoing Proton Radiotherapy treatment in September 2025
, Jez and his family tried to remain hopeful. Although he knew he would eventually lose the sight in his eye, they believed the treatment had worked and life could finally begin moving forward again. Tragically, during his first routine MRI scan in March, Jez and his family received devastating news: the cancer had spread to his liver and is now stage 4 terminal cancer.

Without treatment, patients diagnosed with metastatic ocular melanoma are generally given just 12–24 months to live.

There is no NHS treatment available to Jez. The only option we have is a privately funded treatment costing circa £200k.

Jez is now fighting for something priceless — more time with his family. He is just 59, hardworking, a devoted husband to Kate, and a proud dad to their four children. Family is his entire world. Everything he does has always been for the people he loves most, and he is the kind of man who puts everyone else before himself - the steady strength his whole family depends on.

Jez is now facing the heartbreaking reality that time may be cruelly taken from him far too soon. Time with Kate. Time watching his children continue to grow, celebrating their achievements, walking his daughters down the aisle, and one day hopefully holding future grandchildren in his arms.

Why we need your help ?
Sadly, because there are no NHS-funded treatments the only option available is a treatment called Chemo saturation — a specialised chemotherapy delivered directly to the liver. While this is not a cure, it has shown promising effectiveness in controlling the disease and could give Jez something truly priceless: more time.

Each round of treatment costs approximately £40,000, with 4–5 rounds required, making this an enormous financial undertaking. Any contribution, no matter how small, will go directly towards helping Jez access this life-extending treatment and supporting his family through the hardest battle of their lives.

Should other promising treatment options become available for Jez, this fundraising will also help support those opportunities. However, if circumstances change, these funds will go towards supporting Kate and their children through the incredibly difficult future they may face.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for reading, donating, and sharing Jez’s story.

Jez, Kate, Holly, William, Joseph & Grace xx
