Stand with Jennifer Against FND

**Seeking Support**

Hi everyone, I’m Jennifer. Recently, I was diagnosed with Functional Neurological Disorder, also known as Conversion Disorder. At 40 years old, I was an active mom of three boys, including a foster child we welcomed earlier this year. Everything changed when I suddenly lost consciousness and started experiencing convulsions and seizure-like symptoms.

After a series of tests at the hospital ruled out serious conditions like stroke and epilepsy, the doctors suggested that my symptoms might stem from stress or trauma, which resonates with the challenges my family faced last year, including my husband’s heart issues and hurricane damage to our home.

I experienced paralysis for three days and have been hospitalized three times in the last three months, only to receive the same diagnosis: Conversion Disorder. Now, I’m dealing with Tourette-like movements, twitching, and frequent non-epileptic seizures, making daily tasks like cooking and cleaning extremely difficult. I’ve also had to stop driving.

My family is facing financial strain from out-of-network medical bills and the added costs of food since I can no longer cook. We’re actively looking for the right doctor to guide us on this journey.

The good news is that this condition is reversible! With the right support and treatment, I believe I can recover and return to my life. This has been a tough road to navigate, but I have faith that with God's grace, I will overcome this battle and inspire others along the way.

If you’re able to help or have any resources or advice, I would be incredibly grateful. Thank you for taking the time to read my story! #FunctionalNeurologicalDisorder #SupportNeeded #Hope #RecoveryJourney

Functional neurological disorder (FND) is a medical condition in which there is a problem with the functioning of the nervous system and how the brain and body sends and/or receives signals, rather than a structural disease process such as multiple sclerosis or stroke. FND can encompass a wide variety of neurological symptoms, such as limb weakness or seizures.
FND is a condition at the interface between the specialties of neurology and psychiatry. Conventional tests such as MRI brain scans and EEGs are usually normal in patients with FND.
