My name is Patrick B, and I’m starting this GoFundMe on behalf of my good friend JB — a devoted barber, mentor, and community builder. For the past year, JB and I have been working together on a gun-violence prevention program based out of his barbershop. His doors have always been open to young people looking for guidance, a safe space, or simply someone who cares.

Last week, JB became a victim of the very issue he has been fighting to prevent. He was struck by gunfire in a random act of violence. Thankfully, JB is still with us, but his recovery journey will be long and challenging. As a barber, JB does not have access to adequate health coverage, and the medical bills and living expenses are already becoming overwhelming.

Gun violence can affect anyone — even those working tirelessly to uplift others. This is our chance as a community to come together for someone who has always shown up for us. Every donation, no matter the size, will directly support JB’s medical care, recovery, and stability during this difficult time.
