Stand with Jason: Fire Recovery Fund
Donation protected
Who I Am:
My name is Brian Marquis from Nashville, TN, and I am raising funds to help my dear old friend Jason Capell recover from losing his house during the Eaton Fire in Altadena, CA this past week January 2025.
Jay's Story:
Thankfully Jay and his dog Ethel were not home when the fires broke out and they are safe and sound. However, Jason's house was completely destroyed and the temporary apartment he was living in currently also sustained fire damage and he has not been permitted to return to check what state the apartment is in as the area is closed off by the National Guard. He may very well have nothing to go back to, still uncertain. So, basically he's been stuck in limbo for the past week unable to be in the city he loves so dear and left with a long recovery journey ahead of him.
About Jay:
Jason has made a career being an activist and union organizer fighting for other people. He's on the Atladena library board of trustees and a very active member of his community. He's not one to ever ask for help, he's always the one doing the helping. He's an avid cyclist and part of the LA cycling community as well as international bike clubs doing charity service projects. So, let's show Jay that he has our love and support and we're here to help him get through these unimaginable times.
How the Funds will be Used:
These funds will be used to help Jason through the long process ahead of him as he navigates these uncharted waters after losing his house in the fire.
How I Know Jay:
Jay and I grew up together in northwestern Connecticut, where we bonded over our love of punk and hardcore music. We went to shows almost every weekend throughout high school and beyond. In 2001, we both biked across America together in what would be a life-defining trip for us both. I was the best man at his wedding. Over 25 years of friendship and adventures together.
