I am urgently raising funds for my wonderful friend and coworker, Janice Thompson— a devoted single mother, a tireless mental health advocate, and one of the strongest people I know. Janice and I have worked together at a community mental health clinic since 2019, where she has always gone above and beyond for her patients and colleagues. Her selflessness doesn’t stop at work— Janice stepped up to become the legal guardian of her young nephew, raising him as her own.

In 2023, Janice was diagnosed with cholangiocarcinoma— a rare and aggressive form of cancer. Despite undergoing countless surgeries and grueling chemotherapy treatments, she continued to show up for her colleagues, patients, family, and friends. She didn’t complain. She just kept going — because that’s who Janice is.

After over a year of treatment, Janice experienced a hopeful period of remission. Doctors told Janice she was likely infertile due to the aggressive treatment. However, against all odds, she miraculously gave birth to her miracle baby, Jayleigh, who just turned 7 months old.

The remission was brief, and last week Janice’s life forever changed, again, when she learned the devastating news that the cancer has returned and metastasized to her lungs.

She now needs our help.
