Our family is reaching out to seek help for Jamie, our beloved daughter-in-law, who has been facing a deeply challenging health battle while also caring for her three young children.

In early September, Jamie began experiencing a sudden, severe allergic reaction. Initially, it appeared as hives on her neck and body, but it has since spread, causing painful flare-ups all over her body. She has visited multiple hospitals, including an overnight stay at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, but despite the efforts of some of the best specialists, we still don’t have clear answers.

Jamie is currently on a combination of steroids and strong medications to manage these reactions temporarily, but doctors have warned that these treatments are not sustainable long-term. Each reaction has been more intense than the last, sometimes causing her face and throat to swell, which requires her to carry an epi-pen at all times. These flare-ups are painful and disruptive, making it impossible for her to work or live normally.

To make matters worse, after notifying her employer about her health condition, Jamie was abruptly terminated, even as she was working to arrange Paid Family and Medical Leave (PFML) to support her family through this crisis. Her termination leaves her without financial support or the stability of PFML, which is critical as her health prevents her from finding new employment.

We have created this GoFundMe to help Jamie with her mounting medical expenses and to bridge the financial gap left by her job loss. All contributions will go directly toward helping her cover essential costs for her and her children while she focuses on finding answers and, hopefully, a treatment plan.
