Help Jalen Fight for His Son

My name is Dr. Taquila Monroe, and I’m starting this fundraiser on behalf of my son, Jalen Willis—a devoted young father fighting to bring his baby boy, Luca, back home where he belongs.

We have just 14 days to raise the funds needed to secure a family law attorney and file all necessary motions to recover custody. Every dollar will help us get closer to protecting a child who was taken across state lines and separated from the only consistent caregiver he’s ever known.

What Happened

Jalen has been Luca’s rock since day one. From changing diapers to late-night feedings to covering rent and medical expenses, Jalen has stepped up fully—not just as a father, but as the only parent consistently meeting their son’s needs.

Sadly, the other parent—who has openly struggled with parenting—filed a false domestic violence report that police quickly dismissed. Just two days later, they fled Alabama with Luca while Jalen was asleep, leaving behind all of Luca’s belongings: clothes, formula, bottles, diapers, and even his favorite toys. The child is now in another state with people he doesn’t know, and without the stability, love, and safety he’s always had with Jalen and our family.

Too often, Black fathers are dismissed or villainized. But Jalen is determined to change that narrative—not only for himself and Luca, but for every young Black dad who refuses to walk away.

He is not running from responsibility. He’s running toward it.
