A Father’s Plea to Save My 19-Year-Old Son, Jaheim

My name is Jason Parkin, and I am humbly asking for your help with something no parent ever wants to face — the fight to save my only son’s future. You may have read about this but it's important to know our truth.

I came to this country from Jamaica with nothing but faith, hope, and the dream of giving my boy a better life. As a single father, I raised Jaheim to love God, respect people, work hard, and help his community. When you don’t have much, kindness becomes your greatest wealth — and that is exactly how Jaheim lives.

He is only 19 years old.

He is my only child.

He is my heart.

And today, he is living a nightmare.

What Happened the Day Everything Changed

Jaheim was already on his way to work — minutes from arriving — when one of his close friends called him in a panic, afraid he would miss his shift.

Without hesitation, Jaheim turned back to pick him up.

This is who my son is — selfless, loyal, and always ready to help anyone in need.

But this act of kindness turned into tragedy.

On the way back, there was a terrible accident.

The very friend he went back for — out of love and compassion — lost his life.

Another close friend is in critical condition.

Jaheim has been broken ever since. He cries not for himself, but for the families affected. He carries the weight of this tragedy every single day.

A sincere good deed — something he has done many times — turned devastating.

What was meant to help a friend get to work became a moment that changed all of our lives forever.

Now We Face a Legal Battle We Cannot Fight Alone

In their unimaginable grief, the families are now suing Jaheim.

My son — a respectful, hardworking young man who has never been in trouble and has served faithfully in our church for over ten years — is facing a legal battle that could destroy his entire future.

The cost of his legal defense is $100,000 — far more than I could ever afford, no matter how hard I work or how much I sacrifice.

I am terrified.

I feel helpless.

But I refuse to give up on my son.
