As-salamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,
We need your help for a beloved member of our ummah, Imam Abdul Hakeem. At just 41 years old, he has been the imam of Masjid Ar-Rahman in Spanish Town, Jamaica, for the past six years. He is a husband, a father to two young children, aged 2 and 5, and the sole provider for his family.
Two months ago, while leaving the masjid after Dhuhr Salah, Imam Hakeem fainted. He was rushed to the hospital, and tests revealed a tumor in his brain—something no one expected. This tumor has caused severe symptoms that have changed his life and made it nearly impossible for him to care for his family:
• Constant, unbearable headaches
• Trouble with balance and fainting
• Nerve issues affecting his mouth and tongue
For years, his family has been a pillar of support to the community. They’ve opened their doors to travelers, fed those in need, and offered help to anyone struggling. Now, they are the ones in need of our collective support.
The Prophet Muhammad SAS said: “The believers, in their mutual kindness, compassion, and sympathy, are just like one body. When one of the limbs suffers, the whole body responds to it with wakefulness and fever.” (Bukhari, Muslim)
