We are asking for support for our friend and colleague, Ilayda Cetin. Ilayda has been a Professor in the School of Architecture and Planning at UTSA for three years. She finished her contract at UTSA at the end of 2025 and was in her grace period looking for more employment in the U.S. when she was picked up by ICE. She has been in the Karnes Processing Center since late January. Her friends have already spent thousands to pay her rent, store her car, and pay for lawyers. We recently hired an alternate lawyer who we hope will expedite her release She is a great friend, beloved teacher, and amazing cat mom. Update: Ilyada's hearing was supposed to be this week but the court postponed it until the 23rd. Unfortunately, frustrating events like this continue to occur. She was moved from one center to another early on in the process which made her miss her first court date. Her first hearing was just a master's hearing to set the date for all the other hearings. Since then, her hearing date continues to be shifted. Let's keep hope alive! Thank you all for your support. We have raised almost $1000 and that's amazing!!
