Stand with Ian: Urgent Medical and Care Support Needed

Donation protected
This is not where we wanted to go with this. We don’t want anyone to think we’re asking for money; however, we are doing this for Ian. Ian needs our help. I’m writing this on Day 4 in the hospital with him. I’m writing on my behalf as the fiancée and his mom, Brenda.

He contracted the rhinovirus, which was a normal cold that has turned into pneumonia. He’s been in 3 hospitals since the start of Tuesday morning at 6 am, which is when everything started to take a downfall. Ian is a bad asthmatic, and having our cat doesn’t help as well. It started off with him not being able to breathe, and I had thought it was one of our normal trips to the ER until I kept hearing him tell me how much pain he was in trying to breathe. We started this horrible journey at Belvidere Swedish American Hospital. They tried breathing treatments and everything. We knew we’d be transferred and admitted to Swedish American in Rockford like last time. However, within an hour and a half-ish, it got worse very quickly. Watching him breathe harder than I’ve ever seen before, he had an entire team of nurses and doctors by his side nonstop, not even leaving the room. They tried BiPAP for what seemed like forever and the worst thing for him. They tried oxygen. But as we all know Ian, he was putting himself into a panic mode that he wasn’t ready for this.

I sat in the hospital bed with him and held him as he was fighting to breathe, squeezing my hands as hard as he could because he couldn’t catch a breath. The last words I heard from him were, "I love you," before he was intubated. This was still all on Tuesday. This man is a fighter. Fast forward to Wednesday morning. I had gone home around 3 am, getting a phone call from his mom being told they were transporting him to Madison. Our hearts broke even more than they have. He’s been in the ICU, very critical since then. He’s on a million different machines and medications. This is the worst he’s ever been with his asthma.

I live with him in Illinois, but he’s not able to come home with me due to needing round-the-clock care when he wakes up and when he will be released, which is still unknown. His mom and I are trying our hardest not to leave his side, but visiting hours end at night, and no one is allowed to stay. I’m thankful my job is being so understanding currently, but we’re going through hell. The entire family is. Brenda and I can’t pay for hotels every single night, especially if he’s in the ICU for another week. We just can’t, as well as medical bills that’ll start coming in.

We need the support from every single person who loves Ian, and as his fiancée, I know how loved this man is. If you can’t help, send prayers. Send love. Share the hell out of this GoFundMe.
