Hi, I’m Arielle. I’m raising money for someone who means so much to me — a strong, kind, hardworking mom who’s been in this country for over 21 years. She’s cared for so many others during that time, and now she finally has a chance to take care of herself.
She’s been waiting for her daughter to turn 21 so she could begin the process of applying for U.S. citizenship. That day came a few months ago, and she was ready to start. But with everything going on lately, things feel so much more uncertain.
She always knew she’d need legal help with the paperwork. But now, she’s trying to do it in the safest way possible — with a lawyer who won’t just file everything, but who will go with her to court, stand beside her, and advocate for her if anything happens. Last week in San Antonio, ICE was waiting outside immigration court. People who showed up to submit paperwork were taken. That could shake anyone. It scared her, and honestly, it would scare any of us in her position.
The cost for that kind of legal support is $4,500. She’s not asking for help — she’s trying to work for it. She’s been talking about taking on a second income by cooking and baking to sell food in her community. She’s doing everything she can to move forward with dignity and care.
This is a surprise. She doesn’t know I’m doing this. I care about her deeply and couldn’t sit by quietly while she tries to carry this weight alone. I just want to help give her a little peace and support while she takes this next step.
Earlier today, she asked if she could give my phone number to her daughter — just in case something happens. That moment was heavy. It’s heartbreaking that anyone has to live with that kind of fear.
I’m keeping her identity private to protect her, but her story is real. And if I can find a way to safely share more — maybe a note or a voice recording down the line — I will. She deserves to be heard.
If you’re able to give, thank you. Every bit of this will go toward helping her take a step she’s waited over two decades to take — toward safety, stability, and the life she’s worked so hard for.
