Hi all, I'm Alan Souza and I'm creating this page to help my wife's stepmother, Helen Silva, who is battling cancer for 3 years.

In 2022, around the same time my wife lost her father, her stepmother was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer. After many rounds of chemotherapy, she underwent a mastectomy in November of that year. Almost a year later, unfortunately, the cancer returned as brain metastasis, and she had to undergo brain surgery in October 2023. She recovered well at first, but sadly, just over a year after the surgery, new tumors appeared in her brain, and this time surgery is no longer an option.

For the past three months, she has been at home under palliative care, bedridden, and fully dependent on special care. These treatments are very costly, and our family cannot afford them on our own. Even though we’ve increased the financial support we send monthly, it still doesn’t cover even a third of their expenses.

Bruna has already endured the loss of her father in 2022, and now she faces another incredibly difficult chapter—her mother’s ongoing battle with cancer.

Bruna has stopped her undergraduate school (Computer Science) to care for her mother. She is also about to finish a trainee employment. They are having a hard time with all the financial costs associated with home care.

Thankfully, neighbors and friends have been doing what they can to raise funds and help with the costs. So if any of you are able to contribute—even a small amount—it would make a huge difference.
