TITLE: Support Heather Our Courageous Union Organizer Wrongfully Fired by Amazon
GOAL: $5,000

—————

Since 2022, Heather Goodall has been on the front lines of the fight against Amazon: advocating for workers to be treated with dignity and respect, exposing serious safety concerns, and working to form a union at the most dangerous warehouse in New York State. Her commitment to improving workplace conditions has been met with hostility from management, culminating in Amazon firing her in retaliation for speaking out. For years, Heather has been standing up for her coworkers and fighting for a better workplace for all, now it’s our time to stand up for Heather. Heather is a single mother who has been injured several times while working “deliver smiles” to all of us every day, and needs financial support to pay rent and other bills. Please support Heather so she can continue to help lead the fight for a better tomorrow for all workers at Amazon and beyond.

HEATHER’S ACTIVISM

In 2022, Heather was a leader with the Amazon Labor Union during the fight to organize ALB1, a warehouse in upstate New York with the highest amount of injuries of any warehouse in the state. Together with her coworkers, Heather built a grassroots campaign to demand safer working conditions, better benefits, and higher pay from the fifth richest corporation in the world. Heather has helped her coworkers win their jobs back through collective action, and has helped foster a community of care across the building. While advocating for fellow employees, Heather has exposed alarming issues at ALB1 including the disappearance of a firearm within the warehouse — a matter that raises serious safety concerns for all workers. Instead of addressing these critical issues, management chose to silence Heather and protect their own interests.

AMAZON TAKES A TOLL
Working at Amazon has been anything but safe. Heather also faced ongoing harassment from a manager who has been reported for sexual harassment and even accused of rape. This toxic atmosphere not only jeopardized the safety of employees but also created an unbearable situation for Heather, leading to significant mental and emotional distress.

Heather’s physical and mental health deteriorated as the stress of working and organizing in such a hostile working environment. The anxiety and fear of retaliation led to sleepless nights, panic attacks, and a decline in overall well-being. Her determination to advocate for safer working conditions came at the expense of their own health, highlighting the urgent need for systemic change within Amazon.

Heather has been injured on the job several times leading to hospital visits and worker compensation cases. Her most recent injury caused her arm to dislocate at the joint after her arm was caught in a conveyor belt. She is currently awaiting an emergency MRI to see if she will need surgery. While she was in the hospital treating this workplace injury several days ago Amazon fired her.

Heather’s healthcare needs don’t stop at her workplace injury. In the past year she experienced two cardiac events leaving her out of work for several weeks for each event. A mass has also recently been discovered on her lower back.

HOW YOU CAN HELP
Heather will need extensive medical treatment and will need to cover legal, medical, and daily living expenses as she navigates this difficult time. Each dollar you contribute will go directly to helping Heather stay afloat while she continues her fight against Amazon to get justice for herself and others. Heather continues to advocate for her coworkers even while fired, and your donation could make the difference between allowing her to continue the fight or preventing her from getting the care she needs. Please share this GoFundMe campaign with your network and help Heather in this fight just as she has helped us. Thank you for your support!
