This beautiful Scanlon family is facing a challenge no parent should ever have to endure. Their sweet 4-year-old boy, Griff, has recently been diagnosed with leukemia. What lies ahead for him is a long and difficult journey—2½ years of regular chemotherapy treatments, doctor visits, and hospital stays.
As if that weren’t overwhelming enough, the family just welcomed a new baby girl, Finleigh, only four weeks ago. Instead of spending her maternity leave bonding at home, Colby must divide every hour between caring for their newborn, supporting Griff during his in-patient stay, and also staying connected to their 2 year old son, Murphy who’s staying with his grandparents during this trying time.
Colby’s income during maternity leave has been reduced to just one-quarter of her usual pay, and that entire amount is going straight toward health-insurance expenses.
Matt, Griff’s dad, is self-employed and only earns when he is able to work. But with his child in the hospital, he’s faced with an impossible decision: work to support his family, or be by his son’s side during the hardest fight of his life.
This family needs a community behind them. They need the freedom for both parents to support their children—emotionally, physically, and financially—without the crushing stress of bills piling up.
With the holidays approaching, we know money can be tight. But truly, any amount helps. Your donation allows Matt to remain present for Griff, supports the family through endless travel and medical needs, and gives them one less thing to worry about during an unimaginably difficult time.
If you are looking to adopt a family this holiday season, please consider this one in need. Your kindness will make a real and immediate difference in their lives.
For those who would prefer that 100% of your donation to go directly to the family Matt’s Venmo is @Matt-Scanlon-7 or if you would like your donation to remain anonymous you may Venmo me @Tina-Thibault-Wohead. You can also PM me for their mailing address if you prefer to send a check.
Thank you for your generosity, prayers, and support!
