Stand with Graydon: A Navy Vet's Battle with Cancer

It's hard to understand why bad things happen to good people. It's even more difficult when it keeps happening.

Graydon's life has been a life dedicated to service. Service to his family. Service to his friends. Service to his faith. And service to his country. To know Graydon is to know his witty sense of humor and loving nature. As his friend, I am lucky to know Graydon for the light that he brings to those around him.

This Navy veteran, dedicated husband, and father of 4 has been no stranger to trials that would shake most of us to the core. Not long ago, he was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. He was able to fight back and eventually beat the cancer. Also, although he dedicated years to the company he worked for, he was laid off. He worked hard to fight back and landed a new job with a lot of opportunity. Finally, things appeared to be looking up and there was hope on the horizon.

Recently, after suffering symptoms like debilitating headaches and fatigue, Graydon was suddenly diagnosed with a fast-spreading brain tumor. Doctors are doing what they can with surgery and tests, but his diagnosis is terminal. We don’t know if he has days, weeks, or months left.

Not only is the family trying to navigate what the future holds but his wife is out of Paid Time Off at work. We believe she deserves to be able to spend time with Graydon and their kids without the worry of finances. He is currently in the hospital recovering from surgery, and she should be by his side without concern for what her next paycheck will look like. These funds would be given to the family to be able to provide for regular maintenance expenses for their household, to be able to spend time with each other, and to care for the needs of the whole family. My hope is that they won't have to worry about finances during the precious time they have left together.
