$30k in 30 days. At this time, both I and my furry convention, Get Out The Float (GOTF), are getting sued in court. A person brought their rowdy pet to the convention that disrupted our ability to provide a safe and welcoming environment to everyone participating with the convention.

(GOTF's theme and poster for 2027)

This is not a matter we take lightly. For those who have wondered why I (Baphnedia), have been absent, unavailable, or difficult to find in a good mood, I have been quietly shouldering this burden since March 2026. It has been a detriment to my life, work, my life's work in establishing a furry convention, as well as a detriment to the convention, itself in four key ways that I see.

1. This year we transitioned from renting bouncy castles to purchasing our own. Defending oneself in court shortly after purchasing new castles for GOTF's future is a financial gut punch.
2. Emotional and mental burden; instead of spending time and effort planning and preparing the convention, having to collate and provide information for legal defense both takes priority and diminishes my ability to work on GOTF.
3. It diminishes the breadth and depth of our theme, "Spirit of Aloha." I am a Haole, who learned how to be a person on Molokai'i, HI, and I learned a thing or two about Hawaiian culture when I lived there. When I say 'rural', I mean we lived about 8 miles outside of Kaunakakai. My goal earlier this year was to reconnect with some old friends in Hawaii and get properly deep in the lore and the history, but my efforts have fallen flat.
4. The distraction of being a defendant both personally and as a convention crippled my ability to organize what merchandise we would have planned for our Con Store as well as for our higher-tier attendees. At the time of writing this, I am dubious that we will have what we need to justify higher membership tiers for next year.

With all that said, if not all funds raised are needed for the case, any excess funds raised will go towards mending the losses suffered by myself and GOTF.

EDIT: If you want to take your own look at the case, it is available at Court Listener by the Free Law Project: https://www.courtlistener.com/docket/72356236/luna-v-kaim/
