Stand with Gillian in Her 3rd Cancer Fight

My name is Kristina, and I am creating this GoFundMe campaign for a very close friend of mine, Gillian. She has always been a source of support and encouragement, showing incredible courage in battling more than the average person. As a guiding light to many of her friends and peers, I feel blessed to have her in my life and honored that she trusted me enough to share her story. I am determined to do what I can to help her in any way possible.

 

In 2006, Gillian was diagnosed with breast cancer. She discovered the lump and got it checked out after a few days. A surgical biopsy was performed on the lump from her right breast, which came back positive for cancer. Surgery was scheduled, and a lumpectomy with sentinel node biopsy was performed. A second surgery was done to get a more significant clear margin. Following that, she had a port insertion for chemo. At that time, Gillian had a two-year-old boy, and she was terrified that he wouldn’t recognize her after the hair loss. The shock of a cancer diagnosis, on top of the thought the worry she would cause her family and friends, was a lot to take in. She had many thoughts, and one of them was whether she would be strong enough to fight with surgeries, chemo, and seven weeks of radiation.

 

Gillian had been fighting breast cancer for a long time. She fought hard and was in remission for 17 years. However, during a recent screening, the cancer was found to have returned. At the time, Gillian was grieving her sister's passing. Upon her return, she underwent a double mastectomy to treat the cancer.

She had been working hard to pay off the surgery and was healing well, but during her last ultrasound, they discovered that the cancer had come back.

Last week Gillian went in to get a Savi Scout Inserted . Today April 16th Gillian will go in for surgery again. After the surgery we with have the pathology of the mass. From there we will know additional treatments. Gillian’s insurance doesn’t cover nearly enough. With her still making payments from her last surgery and still trying to keep it together after finding out cancer is back… I’m hoping I can do something to help. I’m hoping us as a community can help alleviate

some of the medical expenses for Gillian.
