We would like to introduce you to our dear friend, Geoff Beere, if you don’t already know him. Geoff is married to Glenda and is a devoted father to Nathan (Alyssa) and Caleb, who will soon be married to Emma in February. He is deeply loved by many at Gateway Church in Caledonia and beyond.
Geoff is best described as a courageous and thoughtful soul who loves engaging with others on the deep things of God and life. Since being diagnosed with ALS, Geoff has shown unwavering trust in Jesus Christ and has consistently encouraged others in their faith while fighting the battle of his life himself.
In August 2023, Geoff was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. ALS is a progressive and fatal neurological disease that attacks the nerve cells responsible for controlling voluntary muscles. As these nerves deteriorate, muscles weaken and waste away, leading to loss of movement, speech, swallowing, and eventually breathing, while mental awareness often remains intact.
Due to the progression of ALS, Geoff has had to pause his work as a building contractor to focus on his health and care.
This GoFundMe campaign has been created to help cover the growing medical and daily living expenses associated with ALS, including essential equipment, in-home care, and ongoing support. Your generosity helps provide comfort, dignity, and practical help during an incredibly challenging journey. Every contribution, no matter the size, truly makes a difference, and we are deeply grateful for your support.
Funds raised will go toward essential equipment, some of which is not fully covered or readily available through organizations such as ALS Canada, including:
Hospital bed
Eye gaze iPad for communication
Ceiling-mounted lift
Tilting shower commode
Backup generator
Thank you for considering supporting Geoff, Glenda, and their family during this difficult season. Your prayers, generosity, and kindness mean more than words can express.
