Hello, my name is Gene. I am 60 years old and have spent my career working as an Oncologist in Europe. Once my family and I moved to the United States, I have been working as a Nurse Practitioner, continuing to care for others in their most difficult times. Now, I find myself on the other side of that journey. I was recently diagnosed with Stage 3 Pancreatic Ductal Adenocarcinoma. Thankfully, there is no evidence of metastasis, and my doctors believe there is a path forward. The tumor is considered borderline resectable, which means I will undergo several months of chemotherapy followed by radiation therapy in hopes of shrinking it enough for surgery.
I am a devoted family man and a hard worker, and I've always done my best to provide for my loved ones. However, with the road ahead—including months of treatment and recovery—it will be difficult to work full-time and keep up with the financial burdens that come with medical care and everyday expenses.
This is going to be a fight, but it is one I am determined to win. I remain hopeful that with treatment, surgery, and the support of my family, friends, and community, I will come through this and return to the life I love.
Any contribution, no matter the size, will help ease the financial stress so I can focus on healing and fighting this cancer. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your generosity, prayers, and encouragement during this challenging time.
