Rally for Gary: Facing Cancer Together

Not many people touch my soul in such a profound way as my middle brother, Gary. He is a man of pure heart and unwavering dedication. A devoted husband, loving father, and an incredibly giving brother, Gary’s kindness knows no bounds. He is the kind of person who protects and cares for those he loves, always putting others first. Humble and unassuming, Gary worked two jobs for the last 35 years to provide for his family, embodying the definition of a true hero.

Gary has given so much to the people he loves, and now we want to give back to him. He has served his community, his country, and his loved ones with faith, humility, and an unshakable work ethic.

As Gary faces a battle he never imagined, his strength and peace continue to shine through. When he learned of his diagnosis, he spoke to me with a calm assurance that touched me deeply. He said, "I’m glad I met my Jesus Christ and have a relationship with Him before this condition was discovered. With that assurance, I have hope of eternal life, and Jesus will be at the gate to welcome me." I wept after our conversation, so grateful for the peace and faith that Gary holds, knowing that his journey is in God’s hands.

Gary turned 65 this March, and it should be a time of celebration as he embarks on his long-awaited retirement. But instead, his life has been upended by the devastating news that his cancer has spread—first to his lungs, then to his left femur, and his brain. The prognosis is grim, with doctors estimating anywhere from two months to six months, possibly twelve at most. But we are not hanging our hats on this prognosis. Even if Gary’s condition requires ongoing treatments that offer no promise of a cure, we keep our faith that our dear LORD JESUS can and will not leave him stranded. A full healing is always a possibility for God is in the business or performing miracles!

On April 1st Gary will begin five sessions of brain radiation. He will also start a two-year-old experimental treatment in the hope that his body will respond well to it. If this doesn’t work, we "may" have only two months with him. The uncertainty of what’s to come weigh heavily on all of us. But through it all, we hold on to our faith, praying for a miracle—knowing that God is able!

Our world is turned upside down since March 26. As his siblings, the thought of maybe losing our best friend and brother— and for me, my rock for the last 30 years, is shocking and heartbreaking!

Amidst this emotional chaos, there is a very real and practical need: to remove the financial burdens that would cause Gary additional stress. Gary always worked diligently, living humbly and wisely. He never spent beyond his means or chased luxury. But now, as medical bills pile up, we want to come alongside him in practical ways. We want to see him and his family free from financial hardship that mounting medical bills can easily bring about.

We are asking for your help. Any amount that you can share is perfect! Our goal is for Gary to focus on what truly matters — spending quality time with his family and maintaining his peace of mind as he travels this uncertain road.

Thank you for your generosity, your prayers, and for being part of our family as we walk this difficult path together.
