Dear friends and colleagues,

I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for your support for someone who has been a constant light in my life—Gabriela Yanome. “Gaby” and I worked together for many years during my time at Nike de México, and even after I left the country, she remained a loyal and deeply supportive friend—not just to me, but to my family as well. Her friendship, kindness, and unwavering spirit have meant the world to us.

Today, Gaby is facing one of the toughest battles of her life. She has been diagnosed with Light Chain Amyloidosis (AL), a rare and chronic disease where abnormal proteins build up in organs and cause serious damage—currently affecting her kidneys.

Her treatment includes costly monoclonal antibodies, ten different medications, and ongoing medical exams, blood work, scans, and biopsies. Sadly, her insurance only covers a fraction of the cost.

We’ve created this GoFundMe page to help ease the financial burden and give Gaby a fighting chance to preserve her health and quality of life. Any contribution, no matter the amount, would be deeply appreciated.

Hoy les escribo con el corazón en la mano para pedirles su apoyo para una persona que ha sido una luz constante en mi vida: Gabriela Yanome. Tuvimos la oportunidad de trabajar juntos durante muchos años en Nike de México, y aun después de que dejé el país, “Gaby” siguió siendo una amiga leal y un gran apoyo—no solo para mí, sino también para mi familia. Su amistad, generosidad y espíritu inquebrantable han sido un regalo.

Ahora, Gaby enfrenta una de las batallas más difíciles de su vida. Fue diagnosticada con amiloidosis de cadenas ligeras (AL), una enfermedad rara y crónica en la que se producen proteínas anormales que se acumulan en los órganos y causan daños severos—principalmente en sus riñones.

El tratamiento incluye anticuerpos monoclonales muy costosos, diez tipos de medicamentos y estudios médicos continuos, análisis, escaneos y biopsias. Desafortunadamente, su seguro médico solo cubre una parte mínima de estos gastos.
