Update – November 2025
We still urgently need your help.
When we first started this fundraiser, we hoped it would carry Gabi through one year of treatment and living expenses. None of us could have imagined just how long, painful, and expensive this journey would become. Your support over the past year has been nothing short of a blessing—it helped keep a roof over her family’s head, food on the table, and gave her the strength to keep fighting.
But Gabi’s battle isn’t over. Her triple-negative breast cancer is still there, and the chemotherapy treatments have taken a huge toll on her body and specially in her brain. She’s still unable to work full time and is doing her best to stay strong for her children, even on the hardest days.
The reality is, the cost of everything—treatment, medications, groceries, rent—just keep growing. Gabi is fighting with everything she has, but she needs our help to keep going.
We are extending this fundraiser to help support her through the months ahead. If you can, please donate or share her story again. Every single bit of support makes a difference and helps lift a huge weight off her shoulders so she can focus on what matters most: healing and being here for her kids.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for walking beside Gabi through this battle. Your love and kindness truly keep her going.
Please see the updates section below to read more about Gabi’s most recent updates.
Original Post from 2024…
Our dear friend Gabi is in need of our help. She is a single hard working mother of two young teenagers and a sweet dog who recently discovered that she has stage 3 invasive ductal breast cancer triple negative (the most aggressive type) that spread to the lymph nodes. Because of this, she is starting the most aggressive treatment plan including chemotherapy, radiation and surgery to remove the cancer. Due to the advanced stage of her cancer, she needs immediate treatment and is unable to work during that time. The medical team has serious concerns if the cancer has spread to other organs and they are still running several tests. Since her diagnosis, it has been hard for her to work due appointments, testing, and feeling unwell.
We greatly admire Gabi’s strength and resilience in life. She has always been very independent and hard working. Gabi moved to United States from Brazil when she had just turned 20. Her dream was always to live in California and Hawaii. After 3 months in Wisconsin she made her dream come true and moved to LA, where she lived for 13 years and had two beautiful children, Isa and Luahn. Searching for a more natural and calm environment to raise her children, her journey led her to the island of Kauai, where she feels is home. Gabi has been raising her two kids on her own for about a decade. The kids have been through a lot of challenges and their momma means the world to them.
Gabi is such an inspiration and shows true compassion for not only friends and family, but for all living beings. She is one of the most loving, caring, honest, real, and fun person you will ever meet. Gabi is always lifting everyone up and brightens any place she goes. She is someone who puts the needs of others before her own.
Gabi needs our support during this challenging time. If you feel compelled to help, know that your thoughtfulness will be a huge stress relief that’s remembered for a lifetime. Please consider donating, any amount will help her.
If you would like to support her in additional ways, please reach out to Valerie Turner at [phone redacted]. She is assisting Gabi with the overall management and coordination of her care and daily living responsibilities.
