Help Gabby Leifeld Fight Leiomyosarcoma
Our friend and family member Gabby Leifeld has recently received life-changing news. Gabby has been diagnosed with Leiomyosarcoma, a rare and aggressive cancer. She begins chemotherapy this Wednesday and is preparing for the fight of her life.
In Gabby’s own words:
“I was diagnosed with Leiomyosarcoma (which is a rare & aggressive cancer). I will be starting chemotherapy on Wednesday. I’m in for a fight and I’m fighting. I’m trying real hard to keep a positive attitude. Laughter is some of the best medicine along with my adorable grandson. Please help by sending prayers, positive thoughts, and laughter.”
Anyone who knows Gabby knows her strength, humor, and the love she has for her family—especially her grandson who gives her so much motivation during this difficult time. While she is determined to stay positive and fight with everything she has, the road ahead will not be easy.
Gabby will be receiving chemotherapy treatments, including what is commonly called “Red Devil” chemotherapy, which can be extremely demanding on the body. In addition to her local treatments, she will also need to travel to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, one of the leading cancer centers in the country.
For Gabby and her husband Steve, this means frequent travel from their home in Breezy Point, Minnesota to treatment centers and appointments. These trips will happen regularly and quickly add up in fuel, lodging, and transportation expenses. On top of that, Steve will need to take time off work to help care for Gabby and support her through treatment.
This fundraiser is being created to help ease that financial burden so Gabby can focus on the most important thing — fighting cancer and healing.
