Since 2002, Freddy Zeideia has owned and operated King of Falafel and Shawarma, a Palestinian restaurant in Astoria, Queens. Freddy moved to New York from the West Bank, Palestine (where his family is from) when he was 15. Noticing a lack of Palestinian shawarma spots in the city, he opened his own, and it has been a staple of the community ever since.
For the past year and a half, Freddy has been tormented by Zionists for his restaurant's decor (including his famous "Walk of Shame," where visitors can find pictures of various politicians and public figures who are complicit in Israel's crimes), and he has both financially and physically suffered due to their attacks. They have torn down his signs and flags and submitted a number of baseless complaints to the Health Department. Despite never finding any health code violations, he was fined $6,000 back in 2024 for his sign outside that reads "Stop Genocide, #FreePalestine," and more recently, he was fined another $6,500 for the same sign. Despite multiple heart attacks from the stress and an open-heart surgery, Freddy has always remained steadfast in his public advocacy for the self-determination of his people, and he has never asked for help from the public before.
Freddy has recently reached out to his Instagram community for assistance, and with his permission, I created this GoFundMe to assist him with the expenses he has suffered due to being loudly Palestinian during the genocide in Gaza.
Let's support Freddy!
