Stand with Families Harmed by Deportation

“Solidarity is the poetry of the people”

We are asking for your solidarity and support for two cases within our organization, Unidad Latina en Accion. Our goal is to raise $30,000 to aid them as a result of emergent events.

The first is the case of Margarita and her son Crismar. Crismar's father is currently in jail in Texas, awaiting deportation. They arrived two years ago, escaping violence in Ecuador. A few weeks ago, during a check-in with ICE, he was detained and taken to jail in Texas. Margarita and her son were left homeless and are currently taking refuge in a church in New Haven.
The family has decided to return to Ecuador, where an extremely difficult situation awaits them. Crismar's grandmother died the same day his father's deportation was ordered. They also owe a loan shark who provided them with the money when they initially left Ecuador. They are receiving threats because of this debt.

The second case is that of Adolfo, a Unidad Latina member who had lived in this country for more than 30 years. On March 13, early in the morning, he was kidnapped outside his home by ICE agents. Days later he was deported to Mexico.

In both cases, we are asking for help so these two families can reestablish themselves in their countries.
We look forward to your generous support during this difficult time for our community. Your aid can make all the difference in the world.
