Hi, my name is Jose Cazares and I am a personal friend of the Nelson family. I have started a GoFundMe for Emily Nelson and her mom during this difficult time.

On June 24th, tragedy struck for Emily — Falcon's favorite beer tender at Jaks — her mom Jill was riding her bicycle when she was involved in a freak bike vs. car accident that changed everything. She suffered severe brain injuries, underwent emergency brain surgery, and sustained multiple fractures.

After 3½ weeks in the surgical ICU, she made a small but mighty step forward and was moved to a new hospital floor. Now, we’re sharing another update: she has been transferred to a long-term care facility that specializes in traumatic brain injuries, where she will likely remain for a very long time — if not for the rest of her life.

The road ahead is still long and uncertain, but every milestone is a huge victory, and we’re celebrating each one.
