A mothers plea -help us keep fighting for eloise

Donation protected

***update***
Eloise is going in for the second attempt of a colon interposition on August 20 2024. We are still asking for donations, shares and prayers! All donations goes towards traveling costs, bills, and anything Eloise needs to make her recovery easier. Eloise will still have therapies an hour away from home weekly and will also go back to Ohio for any future dilations (stretching of new esophagus). We appreciate all of the support and love everyone has continued to show us. There is never enough “thank yous” I could say.

In the next few weeks, Eloise will be receiving a colon interposition. This is a very complex surgery, so unfortunately there is a list of possible complications. If there are no complications the surgery will take 12 hours. The length of time Eloise will be in the hospital after is dependent upon how well the surgery goes - it could be anywhere from a couple weeks to a few months. Eloise will receive aftercare at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital until it is safe enough for UW Health American Family Children’s Hospital in Madison to take over her care. Even after she has healed from this surgery, she will need to be continually monitored, receive several types of therapy, and have future surgeries as well.

The entirety of this situation has affected Eloise physically, mentally, and emotionally. We have mourned losing pieces of Eloise through this terrible situation. As a mom, it is truly devastating to watch my child go through something so catastrophic. There are no words to describe our pain with what we have gone through and what we will continue to go through for the rest of her life. This has been so traumatizing for all of us, but most of all.. my sweet darling Eloise! This has not only been mentally and emotionally damaging as a family, but we have suffered a great financial loss. As her full time caregiver, I’m not able to work. We are FOREVER grateful for any donation! Any money raised will be used for travel expenses and lodging as our family lives 6 hours from Cincinnati Children’s and 1-3 hours from future therapies and visits. At minimum, prayers and shares are always appreciated! We THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts for helping us give Eloise the best care and chance for her to have the best future she can!

Bless all of you!

BACKSTORY
On October 9th, 2023 in a single moment, Eloise’s life was changed forever. Eloise was life flighted to UW Health American Family Children’s Hospital in Madison where they discovered she had suffered a caustic injury (burned esophagus and stomach). Eloise spent 11 days at UW Children’s hospital receiving nutrition through an NG tube. On October 20th Eloise was well enough to go home, with a plan of receiving weekly dilations of her esophagus in attempt to stretch it, as it had closed around her NG tube and she struggled to swallow her own saliva. On October 31st Eloise was readmitted to UW for 6 days due to breathing complications and vomiting. Eloise received weekly dilations of her esophagus from November until the end of March, at which point she was referred to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. The dilations were not effective in stretching her esophagus. After an endoscopy, Cincinnati concluded that none of her esophagus was salvageable. Eloise’s doctors feel that the best next step is a colon interposition.
