Support for Efrain Villanueva’s Cancer Treatment and Care

We’re reaching out with heavy hearts and hopeful spirits to ask for your support for someone who means the world to our family—Efrain Villanueva.

Efrain has been a part of our lives and business for over 25 years. As a long-time employee in our pool business, he became much more than just a co-worker—he became family. Even after retiring, Efrain continued working closely with us, caring for our home and pouring his heart into nurturing our son, Tuck. To Tuck, he’s not just a caregiver—he’s his best friend, his “Mexican Grandpa,” his constant companion, and teacher of Spanish, kindness, and hard work.

In October, Efrain began experiencing a persistent cough. What started as a pneumonia diagnosis turned into something far more serious. In April, a CT scan revealed a large mass in his right lung. Following additional tests and a biopsy at the Patty and Bo Pilgrim Cancer Center, Efrain was diagnosed with Stage 4 Small Cell Carcinoma with metastases to the brain and other areas.

While this cancer isn’t curable, it is highly responsive to treatment. Efrain has already begun radiation for the brain and will begin chemo and immunotherapy next week. He has Medicare, which covers 80% of the cost, but the remaining 20% has become an overwhelming financial burden. Up to this point, Lance and I have done everything we can to cover expenses, but we now need help.

We’re asking for your support—both financially and through your prayers—as we fight alongside Efrain. Every donation, no matter the size, will go directly toward his medical care and support during this difficult journey.

Efrain has lived the American dream. He came to the U.S. young, worked tirelessly, gained his citizenship, and gave back to everyone around him. He’s been a steady, loyal presence not just in our lives, but in the lives of everyone who has known him. Our holidays, milestones, and daily lives have been filled with his love, laughter, and quiet strength.
