Stand with Dustin Through His Recovery

Thank you for the heartfelt support for Dustin as he slowly recovers from his seizure. The doctors and nurses have been giving him an excellent level of care and focusing on the important things while also answering any questions we may have. The latest is that they’re going to have him rest today and continue to work on his medication’s so that they can successfully wean him from the ventilator. It may take a few tries as managing the medication to the right level of sedation is a bit of a tightrope walk. Between me and his sisters somebody is with him constantly. We are fortunate that the visiting hours are 24/7 and that all three of us are allowed at this time. 

 Over the years, he’s made some very healthy lifestyle changes and he’s strong . We are confident he going to get through this, though, it may take a while. 

 We also spent time with a nutritionist who is going to make sure he gets the nutrition. He needs to have a full and strong recovery.

Since he is sedated and needs rest, we know people would like to visit him.  We kindly request no visitors at this time.

On Monday, 1/27, Dustin suffered a seizure and hit his head on the way down. Luckily, his roommate was home and heard something, so she was able to call the paramedics. We aren’t sure about the gap between having it and being found, but he was able to swallow liquid, which led him to getting pneumonia. He got medivaced Monday night and was flown to Torrance Memorial. He’s been in the ICU and is intubated for his pneumonia. He is breathing over the oxygen now, which is really good. His vitals are good; they are just keeping him under to make sure he wakes up in a calm manner.

He will be out of work for a little bit, and who knows how these hospital bills are going to look. We don’t want him to add any more stress to his body after this. Anything helps.
