Doug had been struggling with completing tasks and maintaining his balance. On Thursday, June 19, he went to see a physician and a CT scan and MRI revealed a large frontal lobe brain tumor with significant inflammation extending into the sinus cavity. Doug is scheduled for surgery at 8 a.m. this Thursday, June 26, to remove this brain tumor.
Terrance, Leah, and Sandi (left-to-right) have known Doug since 2008, when he began working in Residential Life at Illinois Wesleyan University. Although Terrance and Sandi have left IWU, the four still get together for the occasional game of Euchre or Spades. We were able to visit Doug late Monday, June 23.
Doug is in great spirits and is already planning his return to normal. But currently, there is no timeline. The doctors won't know for sure until the 10-12 hour surgery is complete. As Doug and his family wait for the unknowns, we wanted to give him some encouragement and let him know that he is not alone during this journey.
Please keep Doug and his family in your prayers. Share some words of encouragement and, if you are able, donations to help with after-surgery expenses would be appreciated as well. Help us show Doug some love!
