Hello, my name is Doris and I am 54 years young. I have two kids who are my blessings, Gabriel (19) and Anacely (17), as well as Mia, my furbaby :) I am the kind of person that doesn't think twice about helping someone else because just a simple smile and thank you lifts my spirit knowing that I made that person's day. Now, this is difficult for me to do because I don't like to bother anyone with my problems or ask for help, but here I am asking for your help.
When I was told I needed to do an Ultrasound Biopsy (7/29/2025) and the cost was a bit over $1000.00 out of pocket, it was a wake-up call that I didn't have any money saved, and at that moment, I felt panicked. I had to use a credit card to make the payment. I believe many of us don't think this is something that can happen to them, so they're not prepared, like me.
On Wednesday, July 30, 2025, I was diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma stage 1 and HR+. The good news is that it's been caught early. I made the decision to have a double mastectomy with reconstruction on September 9, 2025, and next year I will have a second surgery for my implants. It's an overwhelming process to go through to get prepared for what is coming ahead, and I try to stay strong. I don't have sick days and I have been asking coworkers and friends if they can donate a sick day (Compassionate Leave), but I don't know if I will have enough days to cover my recovery time, which will be six weeks. I don't want to add the anxiety of lack of funds to an already stressful situation that would affect my recovery. I need to be here for my kids, and I'm asking if you can donate to help us through this difficult journey, it would be greatly appreciated.
