May 25th update: We have now been told that Grandma's surgery is being pushed back to Wednesday because of the holiday weekend. We are all disappointed about the extra wait but Grandma can use the time to hopefully gain a little more energy. She is only eating little bits of jello and sherbet so far but the doctors are hoping to get more substantial food in her soon. Grandma is only in a lot of pain when she has to be moved around but she continues to be relentlessly positive and grateful for her care team.
May 24th update: Grandma's surgery is not happening today. However, the doctors are pleased with her progress. She should be able to move out of the icu soon as we continue to wait for her surgery. She has been completely surrounded by family for every minute we're allowed to be with her and she remains positive. ❤️
May 23rd update: Grandma is now waiting for her spinal fracture surgery. We are praying that the surgery can be done tomorrow but depending on some equipment they are waiting on, it might not happen until Tuesday. She is still in good spirits.

Update on grandma's condition: She has a serious injury to her spine. This injury will require surgery to repair. Unfortunately, the operation will require a breathing tube but they are hoping to be able to remove the breathing tube shortly after the surgery.
My grandma Dixie Dingman lives in Greenfield which was practically wiped out by a tornado on the afternoon of Tuesday May 21st. Dixie was in her house at the time and ended up trapped under rubble. She is currently in the icu with several broken ribs and a bruised lung. Her house is gone. We are working to go through the wreckage to see what can be salvaged of her belongings. We are looking to raise funds for her medical care and replacing her important items.
