This GoFundMe has been organized by a group of Diana's friends.
Diana is being forced to leave the United States this September after 27 years of building a life here. Her Temporary Protected Status (TPS) has been revoked, and despite doing everything right—paying taxes, working hard, raising a family—she’s now being told to pack up and go.
She came to the U.S. with $60 in her pocket after surviving unimaginable trauma. TPS gave her safety, and she used that safety to build something good and lasting. For nearly three decades, she’s poured her time, talent, and heart into this country.
And now, despite working with one of the best immigration attorneys in Minnesota, Diana has no further options, she must leave it all behind—with just two months’ notice.
Diana plans to comply with the order because staying even a day beyond what the order dictates could jeopardize her son’s ability to petition for her return in two years. Even then, the waiting period is at least 54 months. That means she’ll miss her son’s trade school graduation (the following week)—because she’s afraid that being present for that one moment might cost her the chance to ever return.
She has shared with friends that, while it hurts to be forced to return to a country she fled in fear, what’s worse is how little time she has to prepare. If she had 6–8 months, she could figure it out. But with just two, it feels impossible.
She’s donating or giving away most of what she owns because shipping is too expensive. She’s nearly emptied her 401(k) caring for family back home. Despite paying into Social Security for nearly 30 years, she’s been denied a payout due to a recent policy change. She no longer has a safety net.
And still, in true Diana fashion, she remains hopeful. She said, “I came here with $60 and started over. I can do it again.” But she shouldn’t have to. Not like this. Not alone.
We are asking you to give what you can to support Diana during this unthinkable time. Diana will need money to get established in Honduras: she will need to secure housing, food, furniture, and daily living supplies while searching for employment.
You can also support her by reaching out to your representatives to share her story. To find your representatives go here: MN Legislature
The time to act is now! Diana will be leaving in early September. Please share her story, donate if you can, and contact your representatives.
