I'm Bill Gheen, and I grew up in the 70s & 80s in Shelby, NC with a lot of ya'll, and graduated from Shelby High School (Class of 87) with my classmate and wonderful friend Dewy Tomlin, who is now facing some very serious health and financial challenges and decisions.

Dewey fought and won against colon cancer over twenty years ago, but it has returned with a vengeance. The doctors believe Dewey has a large, fungated, small cel cancer tumor in his large intestine that has metastasized to his lungs and lower spine.

He is currently undergoing a lot of tests and consulting with professionals about a plan of treatment and palliative care. This is a very tough diagnosis, and while Dewey is a master mechanic, this illness is resulting in expensive hospital stays and taxing his energy.

Dewey has always been quick with a smile and a joke, up for good times, and eager to help a friend in need. I believe he needs our community support, and I look forward to being the first among us to donate to this fundraiser to help him in his time of need. Dewey Vs. Cancer, Round 2!
